Liu And Morrison Post Double Doubles In 2007 Season Finale Win At UC Irvine

Long Beach, Calif.- Senior outside hitter Yue Liu and sophomore setter Jackie Morrison both posted double-doubles for the second straight game, allowing Temple volleyball to defeat UC Irvine, 3-1, and end its season on a winning note on Saturday afternoon. Liu had 18 kills and 14 digs, while Jackie Morrison had 10 digs and 56 assists. The Owls finish the season with a 16-20 overall record, 9-4 in the Atlantic 10, while UC Irvine falls to 21-11.
The evenly matched teams provided for tight play throughout the match with the Owls taking game one 32-30, game two 33-31 and game four, 31-29. UC Irvine stole game three, 30-26, due in part to a .098 hitting percentage by Temple. TU finished with a .223 hitting percentage, while UC Irvine converted on .262 of their attempts.Yun Yi Zhang had 17 kills, while Patricia Vernon contributed 15 kills and five blocks. Sun Ying Ling finished her college career as Temple's all-time dig leader with 15 on the night. Jacqueline Cowden chipped in with 12 kills and six blocks.
