PHILADELPHIA- Temple women's basketball (5-6) opens up its Philadelphia Big Five season on Friday when it hosts the Villanova Wildcats (9-2) at 3 p.m. Villanova is a perfect 3-0 thus far this season in the Big Five after posting wins over LaSalle (64-58), Penn (66-26) and Saint Joseph's (71-47). A win against the Owls would give them the Big Five Championship outright. This is Temple's first city series game of the season.

This is the 37th meeting between the Temple Owls and the Villanova Wildcats. The Wildcats lead the Big Five series, 24-12, which dates back to the 1975 season, though the Owls have won the last three. TU edged `Nova last season, 68-66, on a last second put-back by Nicole Pittman (12/22/06).

Excessive foul calling plagued the Temple women's basketball team for the second straight game but this time the Owls used LaKeisha Eaddy to overcome, defeating Western Michigan, 72-68, on Sunday afternoon. Eaddy scored a career-high 23 points to offset 25 Temple fouls and a 25-for-35 Western Michigan free throw shooting performance. Ashley Morris finished with 19 points, while Shenita Landry nearly missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. Lady Comfort grabbed nine boards. Jasmine Stone had eight rebounds in her 2007-08 debut

Morris leads Temple in scoring and assists, averaging 16.8 ppg and dishing 35 assists.  She also leads Temple in three-point shooting, making 36.2% of her attempts. Lady Comfort is averaging 9.5 ppg and a team-high 8.7 rpg. Eaddy has a team-high 19 steals.

Laura Kurz and Stacie Whitman combined to make 12 three-pointers and Villanova closed the first half with an 18-2 run in a 78-51 victory over Binghamton on Thursday. The Wildcats tied a school record with 18 three-pointers made, including a sensational 8-of-9 performance from Kurz. She finished with 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting overall and Witman added 22 points with a 7-of-15 effort, including 4-of-9 accuracy from long distance.

Whitman leads three Wildcats in double figures, averaging 16.7 ppg, while Kurtz has 15.3 ppg and a team-high 7.3 rpg. Lisa Karcic rounds out double figure scoring with 13.5 ppg. and is first in assists (36).

She's Back...
Sophomore Jasmine Stone returned to the line-up in Sunday's game at Western Michigan and got right back to business. In 20 minutes, she grabbed eight rebounds and scored five points. After finishing the 2006-07 season as one of Temple's top rebounders, Stone was sidelined this fall due to academic issues.
