Baker And Myles Take First At NIWFA Christmas Invitational

PHILADELPHIA- It was a familiar scene at the 75th annual NIWFA (National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association) Christmas Invitational as Temple fencing took the top spot in sabre for the third consecutive year and the fourth consecutive year in foil.
Out of the 46 entries sophomore Lauren Baker was named Sabre Champion, while freshman Samantha Pascarelli took third for the Owls. In epee Kaitlyn Uckert placed fourth with the first place spot going to Emma Buckingham from Haverford College.
Samantha Myles, having won the foil event previously in 2005, repeated by taking first place and winning the "Terry Terhune Fuller Trophy". Myles went an undefeated 24-0 on the day. Her victory came over 47 other entries in the foil event.
The Owls next compete in an alumni meet on January 6th in McGonigle Hall at 1:00 p.m.
