Joshua Louis Earns A-10 Most Outstanding Rookie As Temple Finishes 8th

KINGSTON, RI - Sophomore Joshua Louis was named the Most Outstanding Rookie of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track Championships as Temple finished eighth in the event, hosted by Rhode Island on Saturday. Louis won the high jump by clearing 6-7 and was ninth in the 55m hurdles (7.92). URI won its fifth title in the past seven years, edging La Salle, 190-162.

Junior Marquise Stancil was third in the 500m with a season-best time of 1:05.35. Sophomore Bryce Buffaloe turned in a pair of sixth place finishes in the shot put (43-4 1/4) and weight throw (51-3). Junior Marcos Edghill was also sixth in the 55m hurdles (8.06) and eighth in the 55m dash (6.63).

Sophomore Jason Sullivan (800m, 1:59.40) and freshman Sean Hill (400m, 51.19) each placed eighth. Freshman Tim Boeni was eighth in the long jump, as well (21-8). The 4x400 relay also finished fifth in a time of 3:22.80.

Rhody junior Yudehwheh Gbaa was named the Most Outstanding Field Athlete, while head coach John Copeland garnered his fourth Coach of the Year Award for the Rams. La Salle senior Sean Quigley was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer.

Rhode Island scored 190 points, finishing ahead of La Salle (162), defending champion Charlotte (143), Massachusetts (60) and Fordham (51) in the top five of the 10-team field.
