George Washington Game Notes
Feb. 24, 2007

WASHINGTON, D.C.- Temple travels to Washington, D.C. on Sunday to face league rival #9 George Washington at 2 p.m. The two squads are both undefeated in the Atlantic 10 (13-0) and a win would give the Owls not only the 2006-07 regular season title but also the #1 seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The showdown can be seen on CSTV and heard on The Big Talker WPHT 1210 AM. Tip off is set for 2:06 p.m.

The Colonials will look to extend their 17-game overall winning streak and 13-game Smith Center winning streak. GW trounced Saint Joseph's 87-60 on Friday night to remain undefeated in A-10 play.

Temple (23-5, 13-0 A-10), which is receiving votes in both national polls, has won eight consecutive games and 19 of its last 20.

The Colonials have won 25 of the last 29 series meetings, but the Owls have won three of the last five, most recently a 59-54 win in the 2006 A-10 Championship Final. GW won both regular-season meetings last year, including an epic 55-50 overtime win at Temple, which gave the Colonials the opportunity to play for the league's regular-season title and No. 1 seed

Ashley Morris netted a career-high 14 points in 24 minutes, including 10 in the second half, to lead Temple to a 72-43 win over Duquesne Friday. Kamesha Hairston added 12 points and Jasmine Stone grabbed 12 boards. Temple was consistently dominant on the boards, out-rebounding the Dukes 50-19. After overcoming a first half that Head Coach Dawn Staley claimed to be "like watching her worst nightmare," the Owls were able to get their eighth straight win and stay undefeated in Atlantic 10 play. Though the Cherry and White shot 52% from the field in the first half, they made just 11 shots (11-for-21) and committed 18 turnovers to put together one of the worst offensive performances of the season. Lady Comfort added nine rebounds, eight of which were defensive. Nicole Pittman and  Candice Borrows added eight points a piece in the win.

Hairston leads Temple in scoring and rebounding, averaging  19.5 ppg and 8.6 rpg. Comfort is second with 13.1 ppg and 6.6 rpg. Fatima Maddox is third, averaging 11.3 ppg. LaKeisha Eaddy continues to put up great numbers, with the guard fourth in scoring (7.2 ppg) and first in assists (108).

Sarah-Jo Lawrence and Jessica Adair each scored 16 points to lead No. 9 George Washington to its 17th straight victory, 87-60 over Saint Joseph's on Friday.  The 87 points were a season high for George Washington (24-2, 13-0 Atlantic 10) and the most allowed by Saint Joseph's.  Kenan Cole added 13 points and Jazmine Adair had 10 points to round out double figure scoring.  Whitney Allen grabbed a team-high 12 boards.

Jessica Adair leads four Colonials in double figures with 13.4 ppg and 7.5 rpg.  Lawrence is second, averaging 13.2 ppg, while Kimberly Beck is third with 11.4 ppg.  Cole is fourth with 11.3 ppg.

Its Quality Not Quantity
Temple may be 1-35 all-time against Top 10 opponents, but it's latest triumph was not that long ago. The Owls defeated then #9 Rutgers, 48-47, on January 19, 2006.
