PHILADELPHIA - Temple University senior Kamesha Hairston was tabbed the 2007 Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Year, in a poll conducted by the Conference coaches. Temple has now featured the last three Player of the Year honorees after Candice Dupree (`06) was a two-time winner from 2005-06. Hairston was also voted to the Conference's First and Defensive teams. Junior center Lady Comfort was named the Most Improved Player of the Year. She was also selected to the A-10 Second Team.
Guard LaKeisha Eaddy was named to the All-Rookie Team, marking the first time since the 2003-04 season that a Temple freshman has been voted to an All-Conference squad.
Hairston ranks first in the Conference in scoring (19.3) and third in rebounding (8.8) while leading her team to a first round bye in the 2007 A-10 Championship. The senior from Toledo, OH, finished the regular season tied with a league-leading 11 double-doubles en route to earning five A-10 Player of the Week honors. She led the Owls to their fourth straight 20-win season with a 23-6 mark and has helped Temple win 19 of its last 21 games entering the Atlantic 10 Championship. A two-time All-Conference honoree, this is the first individual award for Hairston since earning the A-10's Most Improved Player Award in 2005. Comfort is the Most Improved Player of the Year. Known mostly for her defensive skills, Eaddy also proved that she can score, leading the Owls to a win over Villanova with a career-high 20 points and five assists.
