Men's Track Splits Squad At Ursinus and New Balance Invite

NEW YORK, NY - The Temple men's indoor track team split its squad this weekend at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational, at the New York City Armory, and the Frank Colden Invitational at Ursinus College. The Owls had several impressive showings against some of the nation's top teams at the Armory, led by sophomore Joshua Louis' 11th place finish in the high jump (6-5).
Junior Marcos Edghill tied a season-high in the 60m hurdles (8.40) and finished 38th. Freshman Rob McGriff also neared a season-best in the 60m dash (7.07), finishing 52nd. In the 500m, sophomore Jason Sullivan (1:05.65) and junior Marquise Stancil (1:05.78) ran top times for TU to finish 17th and 20th, respectively. Freshman Adam Hegel was 30th in the long jump (21-4 1/2).
At Ursinus, freshman Sean Hill finished third in the 400m (51.90) and was followed by sophomore Darnell Bowser (52.12) in fifth. Freshman Travis Gerhart was eighth in the mile (4:33.88) and senior Dave D'Addario was eighth in the 1000m (2:42.44).
The 4x400 relay was second with a time of 3:32.57. Sophomore Joe Starecky set a new season-best in the pole vault (12-11 1/2) to finish ninth.
Ursinus won the event with 72.5 points, followed by Delaware (72), Johns Hopkins (65.5), Gettysburg (55.5) and Dickinson (44.5). Temple scored 31 points to finish ninth.
The Owls head to the Penn State Collegiate Challenge next weekend in its final tune-up before the Atlantic 10 Championship on February 17.
