PITTSBURGH, PA - Prior to its game against Duquesne on Friday, the Temple baseball team toured PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates, as the guest of TU Hall of Famer and Pirates hitting coach, Jeff Manto. The team visited the club and suite levels, and spent time in the press box. The highlight of the tour was seeing the Pirates clubhouse, dugout and stepping onto the field.
Manto spoke to the team about his journey through professional baseball that has led him to be the Pirates hitting coach. A nine-year major league veteran, Manto is second all-time at Temple with a .413 batting average. He also set the single-season record for home runs with 16 in 1985, a record which stood until 1997.
Temple takes on Duquesne at 4 PM on Friday.
