Four Members Of Men's Crew Named To Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team

PHILADELPHIA - Four members of the Temple University men's crew team - Eric Alexander, Bill Gennaro, Don Powers and Robert Protesto - have been named to the 2006-07 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Rowing Team. The team is voted by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
Powers, a junior history and political science major with a 3.65 cumulative grade point average, and Protesto, a junior mathematics major with a 3.74 cumulative grade point average, are members of the Owls 20th-ranked Varsity 8 crew that won the Knecht and Murphy Cups while placing second at the Dad Vail Regatta. Gennaro, a junior communications major with a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, was part of the Temple Second Varsity 8 that won the Dad Vail Regatta while Alexander, a sophomore kinesiology major with a 3.59 cumulative grade point average, was a member of the Owls' Varsity 4.
Gennaro, Powers and Protesto were also members of the 2005-06 07 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Rowing Team.
They are joined on the team by five Drexel rowers, Timothy Bohinski, the 2006-07 Performer of the Year, and teammates Doug Allcorn, Alan Fody, Terry Mascitelli and Michael Sausa.
