ST. BONAVENTURE, NY - Junior Ryan Weber and freshman Matt Blackburn etched their names into the Temple record book as the Owls dropped a 7-5 decision at St. Bonaventure on Friday at Handler Park. Weber's ninth inning single gives him 83 for the season, tying him with George Clark (1985) for the single-season hit record. Blackburn, who pitched two innings of relief, set the new single-season mark for appearances with 26, passing Mike Wieczorek (1991).

Sophomore Sean Barksdale had a big day at the plate for the Cherry and White, with four singles and four RBI. He now has 54 RBI, tying him for seventh on the single season list with Jason Connor (2004).

For the second straight day, a St. Bonaventure pitcher went the distance against the Owls, as Cody Vincent (5-7) tossed the complete game on Friday. He got the win after allowing three earned runs and striking out six.

Temple took a 3-0 lead in the third on a RBI single by junior Stan Orzechowski and a two-run single by Barksdale. The Bonnies answered right back in their half of the frame, as A-10 Player of the Year candidate Brian Pellegrini launched his 15th round-tripper of the season, a three-run shot to tie the score.

The Bonnies (25-24, 14-11 A-10), who clinched a spot in the conference tournament with the win, took the lead for good with a pair of runs in the fifth. Insurance runs in the sixth and seventh gave the hosts a 7-4 lead heading into the eighth.

TU went down in order in the eighth, but brought the go-ahead run to the plate in its final at-bat. Sophomore Carmen Del Mastro reached on an error to start the inning and later scored on Barksdale's single. The Owls had second and third with two outs but were unable to tie the score.

Junior Arshwin Asjes suffered the loss after allowing five earned runs in six innings. He drops to 1-5.

The loss was the tenth straight for Temple and the seventh straight in conference play.

Pellegrini was 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and four RBI to lead SBU.

The Owls (17-37, 8-18 A-10) will complete their 80th season of varsity competition tomorrow at noon.
