PHILADELPHIA - Rob DiToma, who spent the past two seasons as an assistant baseball coach at Manhattanville College (NY), has been named an assistant coach at Temple University, head coach Rob Valli announced. DiToma helped lead the Valiants to the NCAA Division III Tournament after capturing the Skyline Conference in 2007. He will instruct the infielders and catchers at Temple along with coaching first base.

"We're excited to have Coach DiToma on our staff," Valli said. "Growing up in a baseball family Rob has always been a student of the game. He has a passion for coaching baseball and he will be an asset to our program."

DiToma coached the infielders at Manhattanville and mentored SS Paul Blejec to Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year honors in 2007. Seven players went on to earn all-conference honors, including three infielders, two of which were recruited by DiToma.

"I am very happy to be given the opportunity to help add to the great tradition that is Temple Baseball," DiToma said. "I would like to thank Coach Rob Valli and the Temple University Athletic Department for giving me this great chance to develop as a coach."

The Cortlandt Manor, NY native began his coaching career at Manhattanville in 2006, leading the Valiants to a 23-19 record and an appearance in the ECAC Metro Regional. DiToma has also been an assistant with the Danbury Westerners in the New England Collegiate Baseball League for the past two seasons. He began his coaching career as the head coach of the New York Outlaws, guiding the American Legion team to three regional appearances in four seasons.

As a player, DiToma was a four-year starter at Division II Mercy College (NY). He earned First Team All-NYCAC honors in 2004 after batting .382 with 12 doubles and 21 RBI.

He graduated from Mercy in 2005 with degree in behavioral science. He completed a master's in physical education and sports pedagogy from Manhattanville in 2007.
