College Park, Md.- Ariel Pierre posted a double-double with 21 assists and 10 digs, but it was not enough, as the Owls were defeated 3-0 by James Madison in their second match of the Maryland Invitational. In the second match of the day, the Owls were able to steal game three (30-26) from host Maryland but eventually fell to the Terps, 3-1. Yue Liu was selected to the All-Tournament team.

Play in game one was tight but Temple was unable to stop the Dukes, who took the game 30-26. James Madison continued to roll, winning game two, 30-23, and game three, 30-19.

Patricia Vernon had 13 kills, while Yue Liu contributed 10. Caitlin Loudon dished 11 assists in the loss.

Temple fared a bit better in the day's second match, with close scores of 30-27, 30-21 and 30-22 in games one, two and four. Pierre dished 12 assists to bring her total to 33 on the day, while Loudon had 14. Vernon and Liu continued to be offensive threats, spiking 14 and 11 kills, respectively, while newcomer Tatiana Hithe had a career-high 10. Sun Ying Ling earned 13 digs. Jacqueline Cowden was a strong force at the net with a match-high four block assists.

The Owls fall to 3-8 on the season and are off until next weekend when they travel to the Michigan Tournament to take on Georgia Tech, Michigan and Utah Valley State.
