Howell Leads Cherry and White In Atlanta

Sophomore Kristen Howell's seventh place finish in the junior epee was the highlight of the weekend for the #9 Temple women's fencing team at the NAC Tournament in Atlanta.
Howell was a seventh place finalist in the junior epee at the NAC Tournament in Atlanta. The junior epee competition in which Howell finished seventh featured 105 entries from around the country. Howell also finished 28th in Division I epee.
Also leading the Cherry and White over the weekend was sophomore Melissa Parker. She advanced to the round of 24 in both the junior foil (17th) and Division I foil (19th).
"It was a long weekend that helped show us where we need to focus for areas of improvement," said assistant coach Bradley Baker. "We feel prepared for taking on some of the best collegiate competition in the country over the next three weekends, starting with Penn State on Saturday".
The top ten Owls are back in action next weekend when they travel to Happy Valley for the Penn State Mulit-Meet. Action is slated to begin at 9:00 a.m.
