Women's Basketball Travels to #20 Auburn For Monday Night Match-up

Auburn, Ala.- The Temple women's basketball (1-0) is looking to make it two wins in a row when it travels to #20 Auburn (1-0) for a Monday night match-up against the Tigers. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. EST.
Temple is 11-79 all-time against ranked teams. Last season, the un-ranked Owls knocked off two teams in the Top 25. The Cherry and White pulled off a 68-66 upset of #13 George Washington and defeated #20/22 Purdue, 61-47.
Temple is 3-17 all-time against the SEC. The last time the Owls defeated an SEC opponent was during the 2005-06 season, when Temple knocked off then #15 Georgia in overtime, 69-66.
Series Record
This is the fourth meeting between Temple and Auburn. Auburn leads the series, 3-0. The teams last met in the 1989 NCAA Tournament Second Round, when the Tigers defeated the Owls, 88-54.
The Tonya Cardoza era began with a bang as Temple posted a commanding 70-55 win over visiting Bowling Green on Friday night. Four Temple players reached double figures to give Cardoza her first career win, led by junior LaKeisha Eaddy's 16 points. Senior Shenita Landry posted a double-double of 11 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, while Shaqwedia Wallace had career-highs of 13 points and seven rebounds. Shanea Cotton had 12 points to round out the double-figure scoring.
Auburn is coming off a 91-53 win in its season-opener at Alabama A&M on Friday. DeWanna Bonner led the Tigers with 25 points, eight rebounds and six steals in the win. All 10 Tigers that dressed for the game scored with five Auburn players finishing in double figures. The Tigers return eight letterwinners and four starters from the 2007-08 team that posted a 20-12 record to make the team's first NCAA Tournament since 2004.
Welcome back
Tonight's game is a bit of a homecoming for junior Alesha Harris. The forward led Phenix City Central High School to the Southeast Alabama sub-regional tournament as a senior in 2005-06.
