Zhang and Morrison Earn Spots On Atlantic 10 All-Conference Volleyball Teams

PHILADELPHIA- Junior outside hitter Yun Yi Zhang was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team, as announced today by the Conference office. Junior setter Jackie Morrison garnered Academic All-Conference honors.
Zhang has been a dominating force in the A-10 since she stepped on campus last year. A 2007 All-Conference honoree, Zhang leads the team and A-10 in kills (4.77) and points (5.27 ppg). She is also third in blocks with 71. Twice voted A-10 Player of the Week, Zhang has posted seven double-doubles (kills and digs) and has reached double figures in kills in all but two matches. Zhang had a season high 26 kills against Xavier (10/11) and George Washington (11/16) and reached her season-high 21 digs against the Colonials on October 17.
A speech language and hearing science major, Morrison currently carries a 3.83 cumulative grade point average. Twice voted to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll, she was named to Temple's President's Honor Roll as well as the Trustee Ten, given to athletes with the athletic department's Top 10 GPA's. Morrison has played in nearly every match of her career and leads Temple with 1056 assists, which is second in the Atlantic 10.
The fifth-seeded Owls (15-13, 6-7 A-10) face off against the fourth-seeded Xavier Musketeers tomorrow night at 9:00 p.m. in the First Round of the 2008 Atlantic 10 Volleyball Tournament.
