Women's Basketball Travels To Ball State For Monday Match-up

Muncie, Ind.- The Temple women's basketball team (5-4) travels to Ball State (6-3) Monday night, looking for its sixth win of the season. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. This is the second meeting between Ball State and Temple, with the Owls leading the series, 1-0. The teams last met on November 28, 2007 and TU posted a 72-48 victory in Philadelphia.
Temple is 10-2 against Mid-American Conference teams, with its only losses coming against Bowling Green on November 24, 2006 and Miami (OH) on January 2, 2008.
Scouting the Owls
Shaqwedia Wallace netted a career-high 26 points, including 22 in the second half, but could not save her team as Temple dropped a 65-56 decision to Villanova on Saturday. Shenita Landry had a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with six points. Wallace dished a team-high three assists, while LaKeisha Eaddy and BJ Williams each chipped in with seven points. Both teams struggled to get their offense going in the first half, resulting in low shooting percentages and long scoreless stretches. The Wildcats put up 17 three-point attempts, converting on seven, while forcing 11 Temple turnovers. Villanova finished with an 11-for-33 performance from long range.
Wallace leads four Owls in double figures with 13.3 ppg, while Shanea Cotton is second with 12.6 ppg. Landry is third with 11.6 ppg and a team-high 9.3 rpg. Eaddy is third with 10.9 ppg and a squad-high 40 assists.
Scouting the Cardinals
Kiley Jarrett hit a lay-up with just seconds left in overtime to give Ball State its second overtime win of the season after defeating Western Kentucky 72-71 Saturday night. Two Cardinals scored in double figures senior guard Porchia Green led Ball State with 20 while teammate Emily Maggert netted 16. Ball State out-rebounded WKU, 45-to-42, pulling down 18 offensive boards to the Hilltoppers 11. Ball State controlled the overtime portion of the game until Western Kentucky took back the lead at 71-70 with 1:42 left. Jarrett then hit the last second lay-up to win the game.
Green and Maggart lead the Cardinals in scoring, each averaging 13.7 ppg. Danielle Gratton is third with 12.1 ppg and a team-high 6.8 rpg, while Audrey McDonald is fourth with 10 ppg. Jarrett is tops in assists, dishing 48.
Second Half Shaq
Shaqwedia Wallace really channeled her inner-Shaq in the second half of the Villanova game (12/20), scoring a career-high 26 points, including 22 in the second half. The sophomore had 22 of TU's 32 second half points.
In Her Free Time
Shaqwedia Wallace has been nearly perfect from the free throw line this season, sinking 14-of-16 for a 87.5% shooting clip.
