Orzechowski Named Big Five Baseball Player Of The Week

PHILADELPHIA - Temple senior OF Stan Orzechowski has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Baseball Player of the Week in voting conducted by the schools' head coaches and sports information offices. The Philadelphia native batted .375 (9-for-24) with eight RBI and four extra-base hits to lead Temple to a 3-2 week.
Orzechowski started the week with a 3-for-5, two homer, four RBI performance in a 10-7 win at Maryland Eastern Shore. He had a three-run RBI triple in Saturday's doubleheader opener against Long Island. In the nightcap, he went 3-for-5 with a double for the Owls.
An all-Philadelphia Big 5 outfielder in 2007, Orzechowski is batted .259 with a team-high nine RBI. He is also second on the team in hits (14), runs (11), doubles (three) and stolen bases (five).
Penn's Todd Roth won the Big 5 Pitcher of the Week after throwing seven innings without allowing an earned run against NJIT.
Temple resumes play on Tuesday when it hosts Lehigh at 3 PM.
