Fries, West Lead Men's Outdoor Track At Towson

TOWSON, MD - Senior Andrew Fries met IC4A standards and won the javelin with a distance of 194-9 as the Temple men's outdoor track team opened its season at the unscored Towson Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Grant West also had a banner day, finishing second in the hammer throw with a school record distance of 163-9.
Freshman Idowu Edeki also won the trpile jump (43-2 1/4), while sophomore Brad McFadden was third in the 400m hurdles (56.19). Sophomore Garrett Summers finished fourth in the event as well (58.65).
The Owls had several strong showings in the javelin behind Fries' first-place finish. Sophomore Eric Pellini was third (171-3), freshman Matt Kliwinski was fifth (162-4) and classmate Chris Durante (160-8) placed seventh.
Freshman Miles Dryden was second in the long jump (21-7 1/4), with Edeki placing third (20-10 1/2). Another freshman, Anthony Bazile, came in fifth (20-4 1/4).
Temple is back in action this weekend at the Raleigh Relays at NC State.
