West Sets School Record In Hammer Throw At Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, NC - Sophomore Grant West set the school record in the hammer throw for the second straight week (169-0) to lead Temple at the unscored Raleigh Relays this weekend at NC State. West finished sixth in the event and is now just three feet, three inches away from IC4A qualifying.
Sophomore Tim Boeni also had a strong showing in the long jump. He finished ninth in the event with a season-best distance of 23-0 3/4. Freshman teammate Miles Dryden was 14th in the event (22-1).
Senior Andrew Fries finished seventh in the javelin (186-4). Sophomore Eric Pellini (165-3) and freshman Chris Durante (157-8) were 11th and 12th, respectively, in the event.
Senior Marcos Edghill finished 22nd in the 100m (11.04) while sophomore David Stonfer turned in a season-best in the 400m (49.68). Classmate Brad McFadden was 18th in the 400m hurdles (54.13), improving his time by over two seconds from last weekend.
In the relays, Temple finished third in the 4x200 (1:28.29) and ninth in the 1600 sprint medley (3:27.80).
The Owls are back in action on Saturday at the Penn Invitational.
