Sean Barksdale Named Big 5 Player Of The Week

PHILADELPHIA - Temple junior Sean Barksdale has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Baseball Player of the Week, in voting conducted by the schools' head coaches and sports information offices. Barksdale batted .333 with a team-high eight RBI and two home runs to lead the Owls to a 3-2 week.
The Glenolden, PA native also scored seven runs to lead Temple to a Liberty Bell Classic victory over La Salle and an A-10 series win at Saint Joseph's last week. Three of his six hits went for extra bases, including two homeruns. He blasted his first career grand slam in a 13-2 win at SJU on Friday.
Barksdale is batting .258 with two home runs and a team-high 17 RBI. The reigning Big 5 Co-Player of the Year also leads the team with 11 stolen bases.
Saint Joseph's Randy Mower won Big 5 Pitcher of the Week honors.
Temple returns to the diamond on Tuesday when it hosts Lehigh in the Liberty Bell Classic semifinals. First pitch is 3 PM.
