West Meets IC4A Standard, Breaks School Record At TCNJ

EWING, NJ - Sophomore Grant West won the hammer throw with an IC4A-qualifying and school record-breaking distance of 172-7 on Saturday at the TCNJ Invitational. West has now broken the school record four times this spring. He also finished 15th in the shot put (39-2).
The 4x100 relay also met IC4A standards with a season-best time of 41.93. Senior Marcos Edghill is nearing IC4A qualifying in the 100m as he finished sixth in a season-best time of 10.97.
Freshman Miles Dryden placed sixth in the 200m (22.38), while junior Gavin Webb was ninth in the 400m (50.59). In the 400m hurdles, sophomore Brad McFadden (58.47) and junior Darnell Bowser (58.77) finished eighth and ninth, respectively.
In the field events, sophomore Tim Boeni was second in the long jump (22-9 3/4). Freshman Brian Smith was fourth in the pole vault (13-9), while classmate Bob Keough finished second in the hammer. Sophomore Eric Pellini placed third in the javelin (177-9).
The Owls also sent two decathletes to the Bucknell Classic. Sophomore Alex Schivai finished sixth while Ryan Berger was tenth.
Temple will travel to the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton this weekend.
