AMBLER, PA - Visiting Delaware posted a seven-run inning early and a six-run frame late to defeat Temple, 16-3, in mid-week action on Tuesday at Skip Wilson Field. The Owls, who were held to just four hits over the first six innings, were led by junior Jamie Abercrombie's two doubles. Junior Carmen Del Mastro also had a pair of hits for TU.

Six straight Blue Hens reached base in the third as part of a seven-run inning that put the game out of reach early. Back-to-back two-run doubles by Scott Shockley and Ryan Cuneo provided most of the damage.

Delaware added a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth to make it 10-0. A Josh Dean pinch-hit grand slam highlighted a six-run seventh for the visitors, who snapped a three-game losing streak with the victory.

The Owls (16-17) scored two runs in the seventh on a single by freshman Byron McKoy and a fielder's choice by Del Mastro. A groundout by junior Steve Mury added another run in the eighth.

UD freshman Corey Crispell, a local product from Hatboro-Horsham, picked up the win with five innings of scoreless baseball. He improved to 2-3 with the victory.

Kyle Davis led Delaware (12-22) with three hits, while Alex Buchholz and Cuneo each had two hits and drove in three.

Freshman Ben White suffered the loss after allowing six earned runs in two innings. He falls to 1-2. Sophomore Ben Fineman threw 1.1 innings of scoreless relief to finish the game.

Temple continues its program record 12-game homestand on Wednesday when it hosts George Mason at 3 PM.
