Orzechowski Named Owlsports.com Athlete Of The Month For May

PHILADELPHIA - Senior Stan Orzechowski, who batted .396 with four home runs and 16 RBI during May, has been named the owlsports.com Athlete of the Month. Orzechowski earned Atlantic 10 All-Tournament and All-Philadelphia Big 5 honors during the month as well.
The Philadelphia native batted 21-for-53 and led the team in runs (18), triples (two), homers (four), RBI (16) and slugging pct. (.755). He hit safely in 12 of the 13 contests during the month, collecting multiple hits in seven games, including the final four of his collegiate career.
Orzechowski had three hits and three RBI in a pair of games (May 3 at GW, May 22 vs. Duquesne) and led off the contest with a home run in back-to-back games on May 4 (at George Washington) and May 7 (at Delaware).
He collected all-tournament honors after batting .583 (7-for-12) in three A-10 Tournament games. Orzechowski had two triples and five RBI in Temple's first postseason appearance since 2002.
The two-time All-Big 5 pick batted .314 with a team-high seven home runs and 41 RBI this season. He also led the team with 57 runs scored, good for fifth on the single-season list.
Temple finished the season with a 27-29 record, its most wins since 2001. In Atlantic 10 play, the Owls were 16-11, good for fourth place in the league.
