Volleyball Opens Up Atlantic 10 Play With 3-0 Victory At La Salle

PHILADELPHIA-Sophomore Jacqueline Cowden had 11 kills and just one error to lead the Temple volleyball team to a 3-0 win at LaSalle (25-21, 25-17, 25-14) on Wednesday afternoon. Cowden added a team-high five blocks to give the Owls (7-6, 1-0 A-10) their 37th straight win over the Explorers.
Yun Yi Zhang contributed 11 kills, while Ashley Carr had 10 digs. Ariel Pierre also chipped in with 10 digs and Jackie Morrison dished 28 assists.
Temple dominated the match from the first whistle, earning six team blocks to La Salle's one. The Owls' nearly .300 hitting percentage was more than enough to overcome a -.043 offensive effort by the Explorers.
The Owls return to action this weekend against Rhode Island on Saturday and Fordham on Sunday.
