Mahoney, May Take Top Two Spots for Cross Country at Monmouth Invitational

Lincroft, N.J. - Freshmen Travis Mahoney finished in first place with a time of 19:23 while sophomore Michael May finished second with a time of 19:28 to lead the men's cross country team to a second place finish at the Monmouth Cross Country Kickoff on Saturday afternoon.

Despite battling severe weather from the remnant of Hurricane Hanna, sophomore Eric Conklin finished in sixth place with a time of 19:56 to give the Cherry and White three of the top six finishers. As a team, the Owls finished in second place with a score of 48, just narrowly edged by Albany (44) for first, but good enough to top Wagner (61), Monmouth (85) and Long Island (172).

Also finishing in the Top 25 for the Cherry and White were freshmen Adam Staricha (18th/20:01), senior James Waddington (23rd/ 20:36 ) and freshmen Brian Ledder (24th/20:38).

The Owls return to action on Friday, September 19th when they return to the Jersey Shore to participate in the Monmouth Invitational from Holmdel N.J.
