Fencing Signs Two To National Letters Of Intent

Epiphany Georges and Tasia Ford choose to join Temple in 2010
PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's fencing team announced Thursday the commitments of two highly recruited fencers during the recent National Letter of Intent early signing period. The Owls received signed NLI's from foil fencer Epiphany Georges (Brooklyn, NY) and sabre fencer Tasia Ford (West Sand Lake, NY).
“I am very pleased that Epiphany and Tasia have decided to join our fencing program,” said Hall of Fame head coach Nikki Franke. “They will definitely add to the depth of our team and we look forward to helping them continue to excel in their respective weapons.”
"We are extremely excited to have Epiphany and Tasia joining our team next fall," commented assistant coach Bradley Baker. "They both bring considerable national and international level experience to Temple. While they are both undeniably talented athletes, Epiphany and Tasia are even better people, something very important to us and our team."
Georges, currently in the top-10 in the country in both the junior and senior rankings, has been ranked at high as ninth in the World junior standings. During the 2008-09 season, she earned a bronze medal at the Junior World Cup in Bratislava, a silver medal at the Junior World Cup in Montreal, and was a member of the US Junior Women's Foil Team that won a World Championship in Belfast.
Ford, who finished the 2008-09 season as the seventh-ranked cadet fencer in the country, earned a bronze medal at the Junior World Cup in Montreal last season. She was also a member of the gold medal winning team at an international cadet tournament in Meylan, France in December of 2006.
These two very talented young women are a welcome addition to the eighth-ranked Temple women's fencing program.
