Shaqwedia Wallace Earns Second Straight Big 5 Player of the Week Honor

Junior averages 15 points per game in helping lead Temple to 3-0 record
PHILADELPHIA - Temple's Shaqwedia Wallace was awarded her second straight Big 5 Women's BasketballPlayer of the Week honor, while Kristen McCarthy was named to the Big 5 Honor Roll for the second week in a row.
Wallace helped lead Temple to a 3-0 week and kept them undefeated so far this season with an average of 15 points per game. She scored a game-high 19 points on Nov. 17 as the Owls defeated 2009 SEC champ Auburn, while also leading all players with four steals and racking up three assists. In Saturday's 65-55 win over Buffalo, she scored 4-of-4 from behind the arc in a span of five minutes to set the Owls up for a big second half. She totaled a game-high 22 points, including 8-of-9 from the free throw line and 6-of-6 in the final minute to secure the victory. Wallace also shot 37.5 percent from three-point range for the week.
McCarthy's play was consistently strong in all three of the Owls' wins last week as she scored 10 points in each. In Temple's win at Buffalo, she notched her first double-double of the season with 10 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.
