PHILADELPHIA
– Before Game 4 of the World Series got underway Sunday, the Temple baseball team volunteered at Major League Baseball's Wanna Play? clinic held at the Southeast Youth Athletic Association Fields in South Philadelphia.

The Diamond Owls provided instruction to approximately 300 participants from the Phillies Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) program, Boys & Girls Club of Delaware, and Mastery Charter School Baseball & Softball teams.

MLB Network analyst Harold Reynolds opened the event greeting everyone in attendance. Reynolds, a former major league player, was joined by Hall of Famer Joe Morgan, and former Philadelphia Phillies' stars Mitch Williams, Ricky Jordan, Tony Taylor, and Gary Matthews in discussion on proper baseball skills and the importance of positive activities. Also in attendance was Sharon Robinson, daughter of Jackie Robinson.

“Our coaches and players enjoyed interacting with Hall of Famer Joe Morgan, Harold Reynolds, the rest of the MLB alumni and especially all of the participants,” commented head coach Rob Valli. “We appreciate MLB including us in their efforts to promote baseball in the inner cities. The coaching staff is proud of the way our student-athletes represented Temple University through the game of baseball.”

The Cherry and White led drills and gave instruction at stations throughout the complex, sharing their knowledge of the game with the participants.
