HAMPTON, Va. – Jasmine Stone's career-high 15 points along with an impressive career-high 19 rebounds kept Temple women's basketball in the game as it rallied to a 54-51 win in a nail-biter at Hampton (2-5).

The Owls improved to 7-1 despite trailing for most of the game and nearly the entire second half, rallying with a minute and half left to come out on top. Stone was the lone scorer in double figures for the Owls, who got eight points apiece from LaKeisha Eaddy and Shaqwedia Wallace.

The first half saw three ties and five lead changes early, but it was Hampton who led by a small margin down the stretch. The Lady Pirates shot only 36 percent from the field compared to Temple's 40 percent, but made four three-pointers while the Owls sank just one.

Hampton's Jerika Jenkins and Choicetta McMillian drained two treys apiece and led the Lady Pirates with eight points at the half as Hampton took a 32-29 lead into the break.

Temple tied the game for the first time in the second half at the 12:51 mark, but Hampton used a 7-0 run to go up 45-38 at 11:03.

Hampton continued to lead down the stretch of the second half but Temple chipped away, earning trips to the free throw line while both teams struggled from the field. There was a three-minute scoring drought for both teams until Kristen McCarthy's jumper at 3:07 brought the Owls within one, 49-48.

The Lady Pirates' Laura Lewis pulled her team back up by three at the charity stripe, but Stone answered back with two free throws that put the Owls back within one with 1:36 remaining.

After Eaddy stole the ball for Temple, her fast-break layup just missed the mark but McCarthy was behind her to tip it in, giving the Owls their first lead of the second half, 52-51 at the one-minute mark.

Hampton's two free throws by Lewis would prove to be its only points in the final eight minutes of the game, and after the Lady Pirates were forced to foul Eaddy with 14 seconds remaining, she made 2-of-2 at the line for the final tally. Hampton put up a three-point shot with two seconds left, but Stone's 19th rebound of the contest prevented another try.

Temple will return to action at home on Thursday night, Dec. 10, taking on Ohio at 7:00 p.m. in McGonigle Hall.
