PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's fencing team held on to its No. 8 raking in the latest USFCA College Fencing Coaches' Poll released yesterday.
This is the final poll before the start of the NCAA Regionals.
"We are looking forward to the beginning of our post season competition. This is what we've worked hard for all season," said head coach Nikki Franke.
The Owls finished the regular season with a 22-7 record. Next up for the Owls are the NIWFA Championships and the NCAA Regionals.
"Regionals will have a major impact on who is selected for the NCAA Championships in March," said Franke. " A fencers season performance is worth 40% of the selection process and their Regional result is worth 60%. Only 24 fencers throughout the entire country are selected in each weapon so it is extremely competitive and a major accomplishment to earn a spot at the NCAAs.
The NIWFA Championships will take place on Saturday, Feb 28 from Rutgers University.
