KINGSTON, RI - The Temple indoor track field teams made impressive showings at this weekends Atlantic 10 Championships held at the University of Rhode Island's Mackal Field House. For the men, it was the same finish they saw a year ago, but for the women, their fourth place finish was their best finish since 2003, when they placed third.
The men were led again by their senior star Marquise Stancil. Stancil strode into a third place finish in the 500m with a time of 1:04.38, and led the 4x400 team (Stancil, Boone, Theofanis, Taylor) to a third place finish with a time of 3:21.38.
Sophomore Aaron Taylor, who was a crucial part of the 4x400 relay team, captured gold in the 800m with a time of 1:55.58.
Junior Joshua Louis also performed well, nailing a height of 6-08.25 in the high jump, good enough for second place.
Charlotte (218) captured first place on the men's side, with host Rhode Island (152), La Salle (76), and Temple (67) filling out the top four.
On the women's side, it was sophomore Paris Williams who was the star for the Cherry and White. Williams, who held the fastest 500m time in the A-10 prior to this weekend, proved once again that she is the fastest in the conference. Williams broke the tape in 1:14.13 to seal gold in the 500m.
Williams would not stop there, as she led the 4x400 relay team (Williams, Allison, DuPont, Cowart) to a first place finish in a time of 3:51.76.
Sophomore Tashima Stephens also medaled for the Owls, finishing third in the 800m with a time of 2:15.51.
Charlotte (175) claimed gold on the women's side also, with Dayton (139), Rhode Island (106), and Temple (77) finishing out the top four.
