Del Mastro Named Big 5 Baseball Player Of The Week

PHILADELPHIA - Senior Carmen Del Mastro, who batted .545 with four RBI in three games this weekend, has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Baseball Player of the Week. Del Mastro batted 6-for-11 and drove in the game-tying and game-winning runs in a 5-3, 11 inning victory over Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday.

The Philadelphia native had a hit in each of the first two games at the FGCU Invitational against Wichita State and Central Michigan before exploding for four hits and three RBI against Florida Gulf Coast. He also stole two bases.

La Salle's Christian Schultz was named the Big 5 Pitcher of the Week.

Formed with the mission of increasing the exposure of college baseball in the area, Philadelphia Big 5 Baseball is comprised of the five Division I universities in Philadelphia that sponsor baseball. The Big 5 will announce a Player and Pitcher of the Week every Monday during the season. The fourth annual All-Big 5 baseball team will be announced at the conclusion of the season.

Temple (2-1) visits High Point (2-1) for a three-game series beginning on Friday at 4 PM. Live stats and video will be available for each game.
