Men's And Women's Basketball Honored At Annual Awards Banquet

PHILADELPHIA - Senior Dionte Christmas was named the men's basketball Most Valuable Player while junior LaKeisha Eaddy and senior Shenita Landry of women's basketball team were named co-MVPs at the Owl Club Annual Awards Banquet held Tuesday, April 14 on the main campus at Mitten Hall.
Senior center Sergio Olmos was named the recipient of the Tim Claxton Award for loyalty, dedication and attitude to the University and community and also was honored with the Owl Club Academic Award. Junior guard Ryan Brooks was honored with the Harry Litwack Award for sportsmanship, dedication, devotion and conduct on and off the court.
Besides her MVP honor, Landry was the recipient of the Henry Sklar Award presented to the player who displays outstanding academic achievement, leadership, good citizenship and dedication. Eaddy also was named the recipient of the team's Top Defensive Player Award and the Owl Club Academic Award. Junior Jasmine Stone was named the team's Most Improved Player. Freshman Kristen McCarthy earned the Hustle Award winner with sophomore and shared the best three-point shooter award with freshman Lindsay Kimmel.
Sophomores Shaqwedia Wallace and Marli Bennett earned the Sixth Woman Award and the Unsung Hero Award, respectively. Trainers Steve Spiro (men's team) was named the recipient of the Ted Quedenfeld Awards. Vera Hutton was named the recipient of the Congie DeVito Award.
