PHILADELPHIA - Temple junior Mike Click has been named the Philadelphia Big Five Pitcher of the Week, in voting conducted by the city's head coaches and sports information offices. Click was 1-0 with a 1.04 ERA and struck out a career-high seven in seven innings to earn the win against city rival Villanova on Tuesday.
The Media, PA native entered the game in the third against Villanova and finished the contest, allowing only an earned run in the fourth. From that point on he retired 15 of the next 17 batters, walking one and allowing a ninth inning double.
Click also appeared in relief twice in a weekend series with Xavier, combining to throw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.
The junior is 1-1 with a 5.50 ERA this season. He has fanned 19 batters in 37.2 innings.
Temple (16-22, 10-7 A-10) visits Villanova on Tuesday at 3:15 PM.
