Buffaloe tops school record in weight throw

NEW YORK, N.Y.
– The Temple track and field teams took part in College Saturday Night at the Armory, held in New York City. The men took home first place overall beating out cross-town rival and Big East foe Villanova.

The Owls were led by first place finishes from senior's Tim Boeni and Josue Louis, and newcomer Emmanuel Freeland. Boeni took the title in the long jump, hitting an IC4A qualifying distance of 7.36m. The senior also took second in the 200m dash, running a time of 22.35.

Louis, who placed second in the 60m hurdles (8.14), was the top finisher in the high jump, clearing a height of 2.06m. Both were IC4A qualifying marks.

Freeland's second meet as an Owl was a good one, as captured first in the 60m dash with a time of 7.02, and also placed fourth in the 200m (22.50).

Junior Miles Dryden had a strong showing, placing third in the 60m dash (7.08) and second in the long jump (7.20m, IC4A mark).

In the throws, senior Bryce Buffaloe crushed the school record, leading the way in the weight throw with a first place IC4A qualifying toss of 18.75m. Junior Rob Keogh placed third in the event (17.32m, IC4A mark), while senior Grant West took fourth (16.75m).

Other notable marks were had by sophomore Eddie Penetar in the 3000m (2nd, 8:36.51) freshman Derryhl Duncan in the 400m (3rd, 50.20), and junior Daniel Lynch in the 60m dash (5th, 7.14).

Next, the Owls split the squads between the US Naval Academy Invitational and Princeton Relays, both held on January 23.
