Owls Men's Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision at Dartmouth in Season Opener
1.23.10 | Men's Tennis
The Owls got off to a strong start, winning the doubles point with two of three victories.
The duo of brothers Filip and Kacper Rams continued their strong doubles play from the fall with an 8-2 victory at the first flight. Sophomores Mansur Gishkaev and Dmitry Vizhunov won at third doubles, 8-4, to give the Owls the doubles point.
It was all Dartmouth, however, in singles play.
Junior Chris Ho led the way, getting the team match even with his 6-0, 6-1 victory over sophomore Kurt Mauro at sixth singles. Dartmouth also won in straight sets at the second and fifth sets to put the Green up 3-1.
The Cherry and White still had a chance for a comeback before Dartmouth's Stephen Greif clinched the victory with a second set tie break win, 6-1, 7-6 (4) against Vizhunov at number two.
At number one, sophomore Filip Rams took the first set from Dan Freeman in a tiebreaker (7-6), but dropped the second set 6-4 and the match tiebreak, 10-6.
The Owls (0-1) are back in action on January 27 at Penn at 4 p.m.
