Owls earn two wins in singles play
HANOVER, N.H. - Freshman Kacper Rams and sophomore Mansur Gishkaev picked up their first singles wins of the 2010 season, but it wasn't enough as the Temple men's tennis team fell to Dartmouth, 5-2, on Sunday, January 24.
Dartmouth earned the doubles point with a sweep. Owls' brother duo of Filip and Kacper Rams nearly grabbed a win at first doubles, dropping a 9-8 (7) tiebreaker to Curtis Roby and Stephen Greif.
Filip Rams lost another tough match in singles play after taking the first set 6-2. Big Green sophomore Michael Laser came back to take the second and third sets, 6-4, 6-1 for the win.
Temple's two points came at number four and five. Kacper Rams got a little revenge on Greif with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at the fourth flight. Mansure Gishkaev handed Chris Ho a 6-3, 6-4 setback at number five to account for the Cherry and White's points.
Temple, 0-2, plays against on January 27 at Penn.
