ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Temple men's track and field team took a third place finish at the Navy Quad-Meet, Saturday in Annapolis, Md. The Owls were led by first place finishes from seniors Tim Boeni and Josue Louis.
“We had good individual performances,” commented head coach Eric Mobley. “I felt like we were very capable of winning the meet, but we did not go into it with that mindset.”
Boeni took the title in the long jump, meeting IC4A qualifying standars with a distance of 23-08.75. Finishing third in the same event was junior Miles Dryden, who landed a distance of 23-05.25 (IC4A). Dryden also took second in the 60m dash, running a time of 7.09.
Louis placed first in the high jump, clearing a height of 6-06.25. The senior also placed third and met IC4A qualifying standards in the 60m hurdles, running a time of 8.24.
In the one-mile run, junior Eddie Penetar met IC4A qualifying marks breaking the tape in 4:13.05.
Also on the track, sophomore Emmanuel Freeland ran a second place time of 22.27 in the 200m.
Junior Bob Keogh and senior Grant West finished two-three in the weight throw, both meeting IC4A qualifying marks. Keogh threw a distance of 56-01.75, while West hit a mark of 55-05.00.
Senior Bryce Buffaloe also fared well in the field, throwing a personal best 48.03.25 in the shot put for a second place finish.
Up next, the Owls head to State College, Pa. for the Penn State National Open held January 29-30.
