Buffaloe Tops School Record As Men’s Track Competes At Penn State National Invitational

Owls senior thrower broke school record in weight throw, near NCAA mark
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Senior thrower Bryce Buffaloe shattered the school record in the weight throw, nearly meeting NCAA provisional qualifying marks as the Temple men's track and field team competed at the Penn State National Open.
Buffaloe took first in the event with an IC4A qualifying toss of 63-10.50, breaking his own school record which he set in 2008 at 57-9.00. In the same event, classmate Grant West placed eight, throwing a personal best and IC4A qualifying mark of 58-03.25. Junior Bob Keogh also set a personal best and met IC4A qualifying marks, throwing a distance of 55-11.75.
The meet featured a slew of national contenders from the east coast, with programs such as Tennessee, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Miami (Fla.) and host Penn State bringing out their best competitors.
In the men's distance medley relay, the Temple team comprised of Geoffrey Barletta, Dehrryl Duncan, Lou Parisi, and Eddie Penetar met IC4A qualifying marks running a time of 10:16.59.
Penetar also met IC4A marks in the one-mile run, breaking the tape in fourth place in a time of 4:14.90. Parisi led the way in the 500m, crossing the finish in 12th in a personal best time of 1:05.54.
In the 200m, Emmanuel Freeland placed eight in an IC4A qualifying time of 22.21. Junior Aaron Taylor led the way in the 800m, turning in an IC4A qualifying mark of 1:54.83.
Two Temple athletes made the finals in the long jump, as senior Tim Boeni placed fourth (23-08.00) and junior Miles Dryden finished sixth (23-03.25). Both met IC4A qualifying standards.
Running the 5000m, junior Mike May placed second in a time of 14:59.11.
Competition for the Owls continues as the squad splits to compete at either the New Balance Collegiate Invitational (Feb. 5-6) or the Haverford Duals (Feb. 6).
