LOS ANGELES - It's only 9:00 p.m. in L.A., but to the Temple women's basketball team and its travel party, it feels much later. The team departed Philadelphia for California just before 2:00 p.m. EST this afternoon. The Owls will play Pepperdine on Friday, Nov. 26, and UCLA on Sunday, Nov. 28.
Thanks to a strong headwind, the normal flight time of 5-5 1/2 hours was a little more than six, and the plane finally landed in L.A. just after 5:00 p.m. PST.
The team ate a catered meal in the hotel, the Marriott Marina Del Rey, located just a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean and Venice Beach.
Coach Tonya Cardoza and the team spent some time watching film from last night's win vs. Northern Illinois before calling it a night.
On Thursday morning, Temple will hold practice at a nearby school, and in the afternoon the whole team will head to Kristen McCarthy's house in nearby San Dimas for Thanksgiving dinner. Denise McCarthy, Kristen's mother, is generously hosting the entire team along with family members for the holiday.
