Volleyball’s Ariel Pierre Named to COBRA Magazine All-East Region Team

Pierre recently completed her senior season ranked 36th in NCAA Division I in digs per set

PHILADELPHIA – Temple volleyball senior Ariel Pierre has been named to COBRA Magazine's All-East Region Team for the 2010 season. Pierre joins 14 others on the team, which includes two players from two-time defending national champion Penn State.

Finishing with an impressive 1,563 digs, Pierre ranks fourth all-time in career digs at Temple. She led the team for the past three years in the back row, and is a three-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week. Her 5.11 digs per set this season ranked second in the Atlantic 10 and 36th in NCAA Division I.

Pierre recorded 20 or more digs in 12 matches, including a career-high 29 digs at Montana. She was named to both the 2010 Temple Invitational All-Tournament Team and the 2010 Tar Heel Classic All-Tournament Team.

COBRA Magazine's purpose is to celebrate the success of volleyball players of African descent in hopes of encouraging black girls across the country to pursue the sport.
