Men's Track & Field Prepares For Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship

2.18.10 | Men's Track and Field

Several Owls top conference performance list in respective events

PHILADELPHIA – After two weeks of practice in preparation for the 17th Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship, the Temple men's track and field team is poised to make a run at the title and better their fourth place finish from a year ago. The 2010 Championship will be held February 19-20, inside the University of Rhode Island's Mackal Field House.

A two-time A-10 Performer of the Week this season, senior thrower Bryce Buffaloe has been a force in the weight throw. Buffaloe's conference-best toss of 64-02.00 shattered his own school record in the event, and topped teammate and second-ranked thrower Bob Keogh (58-05.25) by nearly six feet. Rounding out the “Big Three” is senior Grant West, who ranks fourth in the A-10 with a season best throw of 58-03.25.

Seniors Tim Boeni and Josue Louis top the charts in the jumps, owning the best leaps in the long jump and high jump. Boeni posted a season best 27-04.50 in the long jump at the New Balance Invitational, while Louis notched his top mark of 6-9 at the College Saturday Night at the Armory.

Also in the long jump, junior Miles Dryden is tied for second in the conference with a jump of 23-07.25, while also ranking fifth in the conference in the 55m dask with a time of 6.52.

Louis has also been an asset on the track, with his season-best time of 7.62 in the 55m hurdles ranking fourth in the conference.

Triple jump specialist Kijaun Wilkinson holds the conferences best launch, posting a jump of 46-02.50 at the Navy Quad-Meet.

In the 200m dash, sophomore Emmanuel Freeland has been supplying Temple with top times all season. His season-best of 22.21 came at the Penn State National Invitational, and ranks third in the conference.

Junior Eddie Penetar owns a top five time in the mile run, posting a mark of 4:13.05 at the Navy Quad-Meet.

The two-day championship will be streamed live on www.atlantic10.org, beginning on Friday at 9:00 a.m. The cost is $7.95 for a two-day pass, while annual subscribers to A-10 All-Access will receive the event as part of their subscription. Live stats will also be available through the A-10 website.
