Boeni and Buffaloe meet NCAA Provisional Records On Weekend

New York, N.Y. – Seniors Tim Boeni and Bryce Buffaloe each met NCAA Provisional qualifying standards as the Temple men's track & field team competed at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational, Widener Invitational, and Haverford College Invitational this weekend.
Boeni jumped a distance of 7.56m, bettering his IC4A distance and more significantly meeting NCAA provisional standards at the New Balance Invitational, placing seventh overall.
In the weight throw senior Bryce Buffaloe placed fifth at the New Balance Invitational (19.58m) in a very competitive field, meeting NCAA Provisional marks and bettering his school record.
On the track, junior Miles Dryden led the way in the 60m dash, running a time of 7.05 good enough for third place. In the 60m hurdles, freshman Tim Malloy placed ninth in a time of 8.42.
Sophomore Emmanuel Freeland continues to clock solid times for the Owls in the 200m, placing 10th in a time of 22.45. Also providing consistency in his event, sophomore Aaron Taylor ran a time of 1:54.85 in the 800m, good enough for eighth place.
Representing Temple in the 4x400m Pennsylvania race, Tariq Lee, Derrhyl Duncan, Brad McFadden, and Taylor placed third in a time of 3:21.28.
At Widener on Friday, Buffaloe threw a personal best 51-00.75 in the shot put, and also placed first in the weight throw with a toss of 18.50m. Teammates Grant West and Bob Keogh finished two-four behind Buffaloe, throwing tosses of 17.89m and 17.16m respectively.
In the triple jump, Kijaun Wilkinson placed first with a distance of 13.97m.
At Haverford Sunday morning, there were a total of seven first place finishes had by the Owls. Dylan Pensyl led the long jump with a distance of 6.80m. Taylor placed first in the triple jump, clearing 11.29m, while Malloy led in the 55m hurdles (7.76) and Joshua Louis placed highest in the high jump (2.03m).
Freeland thrived in the 55m dash and 200m, placing first in both with times of 6.49 and 22.63. Ben Thomas ran a time of 8:57.70 in the 3k, a personal best.
Taylor would also post a personal best in the 55m hurdles, running a time of 8.35 for a second place finish. Malloy finished highly in the triple jump, placing second with a jump of 13.79m.
Dryden finished second in both the 55m dash and 200m, running times of 6.54 and 23.01 respectively.
In the mile, junior Mike May ran a personal best 4:23.64 for a seventh place finish. Jason Howitt also ran a personal best in the 55m hurdles, placing second in a time of 8.10.
Up next for the Owls are the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships, held February 19 and 20 at the University of Rhode Island.
