Temple remains undefeated against A-10 foes
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Temple men's tennis team picked up a 4-2 win over visiting Richmond on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center. The Owls claimed the doubles point and took three of the five singles bouts that were played.
Filip and Kacper Rams got things off to a good start for the Owls with their 8-2 doubles win over William Minter and Sebastien Fauchet at the first flight. After a Richmond win at number three left the point up for grabs, Andrey Morozov and Stanislav Stekolshikov wrapped it up for TU with an 8-4 victory over Dylan Schrode and Jesse Feder at number two.
Morozov came back out and made quick work of Rafael Arana at number six singles, making it 2-0 for Temple with his 6-4, 7-5 win. Kacper Rams added to the lead with his two-set win over A.J. Nelson, 6-4, 6-3, at number four.
The Spiders wouldn't go down easily, however, when Feder cut it to a 3-1 match with his three-set win over Dmitry Vizhunov at number two, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3. Mansur Gishkaev secured the TU victory, though, when he hung on for a three-set win over Schrode at the fifth flight, 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-3.
Minter closed the final gap with his 6-2, 6-4 win for Richmond at number three, and Filip Rams and Fauchet did not finish their competition at number one once the match was decided.
The Owls are 2-6 overall and will play again tomorrow evening when they host New Jersey Tech. Richmond is 4-8.
