Four Temple players win in straight sets
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Temple men's tennis team picked up its second straight win in two days, defeating New Jersey Tech, 6-1, on Friday, March 12, 2010. The Owls hosted the Highlanders at Arthur Ashe Tennis Center.
TU picked up the doubles point with wins at numbers one and three. Filip and Kacper Rams earned an 8-6 win over Carl Lundquist and Diego Abreu at the first flight. Dmitry Vizhunov and Mansur Gishkaev defeated Fraser Croad and Dimitri Athans, 8-2, at the third flight to secure the point for Temple.
In singles play, Filip Rams handed Stephen Erickson his first singles loss of the season. Erickson looked to be on his way to his 15th-straight win with a 6-2 first set victory, but Rams came back to take the second set 7-5 and earn the point with a 6-2 third set.
Also earning singles victories for the Cherry & White were Kacper Rams at number three, Stanislav Stekolshikov at four, Andrey Morozov at five and Gishkaev at the sixth flight.
Temple improves to 3-6 overall and will play again on Thursday, March 18 at 9:00 a.m. in a rescheduled match with Atlantic 10 preseason favorite George Washington.
