Owls host Central Connecticut State for doubleheader
Watch Live
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Temple softball team already has 17 games under its belts, but will be playing on its home field for the first time this spring when it hosts Central Connecticut State on Friday, March 19. The doubleheader against the Blue Devils at Ambler Field starts at 3 p.m.
The Owls are 6-11 on the season after trips to tournaments in Georgia and Florida, and a doubleheader against nearby University of Delaware.
Junior Kristen Marris has been leading the team on the mound, posting a 5-4 record through 58.0 innings of work. The right-hander already has tossed a one-hitter this season against Loyola-Chicago, with the offense coming through in that game for a 9-0 win.
Offensively, the Cherry & White are led by sophomore Christina Sykora with a .333 average. Sykora has two doubles and one triple as part of her nine hits. Freshman Ali Robinson leads the team in home runs, sending three out of the park to support her .260 average.
TU posted a 5-6 record at Ambler Field last season, with four of those wins coming in the last five home games.
The Owls will host another doubleheader on Sunday, March 21, bringing in cross-city rival Drexel for a pair of games at 12 p.m. In fact, Temple will play 12 of its next 14 games in Ambler.
Friday's opponent, Central Connecticut State, owns a 4-7 overall record, including a 1-0 mark on the road. The Blue Devils have played two common opponents with Temple in East Tennessee State and Ball State. Both squads lost their games to Ball State, while CCSU fell to ETSU and Temple split a pair of games with the Buccaneer's.
Live Stats will be available for all four games this weekend.
