Men’s Tennis Picks Up Two Wins On Sunday

Owls shutout Fordham and St. Francis (N.Y.), 7-0
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Temple men's tennis team played its first outdoor home matches of the season on Sunday, March 21, hosting Atlantic 10 foe Fordham and non-conference opponent St. Francis (N.Y.). The Owls defeated both squads, 7-0.
Against Fordham, the Cherry & White didn't drop a set on the way to the shutout win. In doubles play, Stanislav Stekolshikov and Andrey Morozov earned an 8-4 decision at number one. Mansur Gishkaev and Dmitry Vizhunov took an 8-2 win at number two, and Matt King and Luv Sodha completed the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win at the third flight.
TU claimed all six singles bouts, including at number three where Stekolshikov didn't lose a game in his 6-0, 6-0 win.
The Owls were just as successful in their second match of the day, again failing to surrender a set to the Terriers of the St. Francis (N.Y.). Filip and Kacper Rams took on the number one doubles team and came away with an 8-3 victory, while Gishkaev and Vizhunov, and King and Sodha teamed up again for wins at two and three.
Kacper Rams and Stekolshikov were Temple's straight-set shutout winners in this match, with K. Rams' victory coming at number two and Stekolshikov's at the fifth flight.
Temple improves to 5-7 overall and 3-1 against A-10 opponents. The Owls are back in action on Friday, March 26, when they travel to Lehigh for a 5 p.m. match against the Mountain Hawks.
