Owls win third-straight victory
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Temple won five of six singles matches and all three doubles bouts on the way to a 6-1 win over Lehigh on Friday at the Lewis Tennis Center. The visiting Owls improve to 6-7, while Lehigh falls to 6-7 with the setback.
Temple clinched the doubles point with wins at number two and number three doubles, while Troy List and Colin Laffey battled to the end against brothers Filip and Kacper Rams at number one doubles before falling in a tiebreak.
In singles play, Laffey downed Dmitri Vizhunov 6-4, 6-2 at the second flight, but it was the only win the Mountain Hawks could muster. The Cherry & White picked up wins at number five and number six and Filip Rams won the battle of top flight players over List, 6-0, 6-3.
With the team score decided, the teams played eight-game pro sets at the third and fourth flights, with Andrey Morozov downing Leland Richardson, 8-4, and Kacper Rams rallying to defeat Edgars Rauza, 8-5.
Temple returns to action on Saturday, March 27, when it hosts Atlantic 10 opponent Duquesne for a 5:00 p.m. match at Arthur Ashe Tennis Center.
