Owls qualify two relays, eight others for individual events
Schedule of Events
PHILADELPHIA – Coming off of a record setting performance at the Atlantic 10 Championships, the Temple men's track & field team will be represented by 15 qualifiers at the IC4A Championships, held March 6-7 in Boston, Mass. A total of 27 athletes from both the men's and women's teams will be traveling to compete in the ECAC/IC4A Championships this weekend.
"This is the most qualifiers we have had to both the ECAC and IC4A Championships," commented head coach Eric Mobley. "It is just a credit to our athletes, and shows how our program continues to move in the right direction."
Three men – Emmanuel Freeland, Josue Louis, and Aaron Taylor – qualified for multiple events. Freeland clocked a time of 6.45 in the 55m dash at the A-10 Championships, and ran his top time in the 200m of 22.21 at the Penn State National Open.
Louis nailed down qualifying marks in the 55m hurdles (7.69) and high jump (2.09m), while Taylor met 800m marks (1:54.83) and led the 4x800m team to qualify (7:52.93). Joining Taylor in the 4x800m relay are junior Lou Parisi, sophomore Zac Coulson, and sophomore Geoffrey Barletta.
Senior Tim Boeni and junior Miles Dryden both qualified for the long jump. Boeni landed a huge jump of 7.56m at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational, while Dryden qualified with a leap of 7.20m at the Armory on January 16.
The Owls “Big Three” – senior Bryce Buffaloe, senior Grant West, and junior Bob Keogh – all punched their tickets to Boston in the weight throw. Buffaloe heaved a monster toss at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational, resetting his own school record at 19.58m. West's season-best came at the A-10 Championship (17.96m), while Keogh hit 17.81m at the Jack Pyrah Invitational.
The 4x400m relay team, comprised of sophomore Tariq Lee, freshman Derryhl Duncan, senior Brad McFadden, and senior Alex Schiavi, met marks at the NYU FasTrack Invitational in a time of 3:19.53.
The 88th IC4A Indoor Track & Field Championship will be held at the Boston University Track & Field Pavillion on Saturday and Sunday, March 6-7.
