Jusino leads going two-for-three

Box Score

DURHAM, N.C.
– Senior Tony Jusino continued his torrid hitting going two-for-three Saturday in Durham to extend his hit streak to six games, but the Owls offense stranded nine runners in a 7-0 loss to Duke.

Junior Ben White (0-2) got the nod for TU, throwing six innings allowing four runs on six hits to take the loss. Duke starter Eric Pfisterer (2-1) went six scoreless innings, striking out 10 with two walks.

The Blue Devils opened the scoring in the first. White hit the first batter in Ryan McCurdy, but seemed to get back on track striking out the two-hitter. DU's Will Piwnica-Worms stepped up with a tripled to right-center, scoring McCurdy for a lead they would not relinquish.

The lead would be padded with a two-run third and three more in the seventh.

Jusino led off the fourth inning with a single to center and singling in the eight, his 16th and 17th hits of the season. The senior has hit safely in his last six games, and in seven of Temple's first nine.

Temple falls to 0-9, while the Blue Devils move to 6-3.

The Owls wrap up their southern stint Sunday, with game time set for 1:00 p.m. at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
